U.S. Environmental Protection Agency Recognizes EMC Aggressive Greenhouse Gas Emissions Reductions Goals

EMC Corporation (NYSE: EMC) today announced it was recognized by the U.S. Environment Protection Agency (EPA) with a 2015 Climate Leadership Award for Excellence in Greenhouse Gas (GHG) Management—Goal Setting. This award recognizes organizations that publicly report and verify organization-wide GHG inventories and publicly set aggressive GHG reductions goals.
EMC was honored for its accomplishment in setting an absolute GHG reduction goal of 40 percent between 2010 and 2020 for its global operations. The company plans to achieve its science-based reduction goal by:
- Maintaining a highly-efficient infrastructure at company-owned and large-leased facilities including labs, data centers, and manufacturing floors
- Employing leading-edge technologies to use the entire IT infrastructure more efficiently
- Obtaining 20-percent of global electricity from renewable sources by 2020
